When I was trying to think of a color I thought it would be light olive green but there's something about this color that doesn't quite fit into this category for some reason. It looks so smooth like jade pieces.

It is very old I can tell by the seeds contained within the glass, especially in the pendant.

I can picture a movie star wearing these beautiful aqua sea glass earrings.

Dangle earrings are in, just like hoops so I’m going to make more of these in a variety of sea glass colors and sizes. Some will have one dangle some 2 some 3 all depending on my mood while making jewelry.
This pair is wrapped in argentium wire which is a non tarnish silver. The dangle is so elegant I can picture someone wearing this with a beautiful evening gown. I’ll have to make a pendant to match it!

I don't only love to collect sea glass to make jewelry with I also love to collect interesting pieces of sea glass especially if it looks old.

This particular piece is black sea glass, a very dark olive green which appears to be black until light is shined upon it to reveal its true color. Black sea glass is a treasure and a very rare find. I almost hesitate to sell any jewelry using black sea glass.

My Christmas Music Playlist...

By far my favorite holidays are Halloween and Christmas but mostly Christmas so I've posted my Christmas music playlist featuring a little over 170 songs. Many of the songs are by old timers like Andy Williams, Bing Crosby, Dean Martin, Doris Day, Judy Garland, Frank Sinatra, Peggy Lee, Maria Callas, so so many more!!!

I listen to this music while I create my sea glass jewelry and when working on my site/blogs. Christmas music puts me in a very relaxed mood and helps me to focus on whatever I'm doing.

Somehow, the mood that Christmas music puts me in is the same mood I get into when I'm looking for sea glass. It must be all the good chemicals dripping down from my brain!

My playlist has to be managed constantly as songs get taken off and added on but I don't mind cleaning it up at all. I'm just so thankful there's a playlist.com that exists.

Cornflower Blue Wire Wrapped Earrings and Pendant

I'm finally posting my sea glass jewelry. I had to clean up and small kine revamp my site/blog so I'm glad that's done and out of the way.

The first set I have is a cornflower blue earring pair and pendant to match. Both are wire wrapped with argentium silver wire which is tarnish proof.

Cornflower blue is a very hard to find sea glass which puts it in the Rare category, hence the price is slightly higher than say kelly green or brown which are very common but still very beautiful.

Hoop Earrings with Aqua Blue Sea Glass

I've always wanted to make hoop earrings because it seems to be all the rage nowadays. The bigger the better. Well I finally made a pair and I really like it so I know I'll be making more!

This pair I have dangling aqua blue sea glass which measures a little more than 3/4". The wire I used is argentium silver which doesn't tarnish...how awesome is that?!

The hoop measures 2 1/2"...a good dangle size I think. I'm looking forward to making more of these!

Dark Olive Green Sea Glass Wired Pendant

This is a dark olive green pendant with an unusual shape. I wanted to keep the focus on the sea glass and the shape of it so I wrapped it simply with argentium wire.

It is masculine enough for a male to wear as well.

If you hold it up to the light you'll see lots of "bubbles" or "seeds" contained within the sea glass. This indicator says that this piece came from a bottle that was hand blown into a base mold which was the popular method until the early 1900's, about 1903 or 1905, when glass bottle making became machine automated so this piece is very old.

Amethyst Sea Glass Wire Wrapped Pendant

According to Richard LaMotte, the author of "Pure Sea Glass", where I glean most of my sea glass information from, amethyst/purple/lavender sea glass is a rare find. Not as rare as the very rare to find black sea glass.

For me though it's the opposite, so far, I've found so many more pieces of black sea glass then amethyst sea glass. I guess it all depends on the location and not that I've found tons of black sea glass either.

Well, amethyst sea glass, if found, is close to 100 years old or older. It gets its color from the suns effect on the manganese ingredient which was used prevalently from about 1880 to 1915 to make the glass clear. So for me to have this piece of sea glass, this large, is a treat.

I wrapped it, again, pretty simply because I like the emphasis and focus to be mostly on the sea glass itself.

This sea glass has a chip on the left side bottom but this chip in no way takes away from the beauty of this amethyst sea glass pendant.

Dark Olive Green Wire Wrapped Earrings

This color looks black when in the water so when hunting for sea glass I always pick up suspicious looking pieces. Many times it ends up being lava rock but once in awhile it is an actual piece of sea glass.

I was lucky to find 2 in a similar size and shape so whoever gets this is getting a great treat! Worth every bit of penny you spend on it this glass boasts many seeds or bubbles contained within which indicates an age of nearly 100 years. For it to smoothen as it has indicates appx. 10+ years of tumbling in the ocean.

2" Seafoam Pendant with Curves

I absolutely Love it when I find gems like these. It's not that easy...the tumbler takes away as fast as it brings these sea gems in. The Sea Goddess does not let go of her gems too easily...at least not for me. But I respect, what she gives I'm happy for and what she doesn't give...I guess I'm not supposed to have it. By now you must have a hint that I wasn't able to get many, many beautiful sea gems.

This gem is in a seafoam color which is very uncommon to find. According to Richard LaMotte in his book that I use like a sea glass bible, "Pure Sea Glass", seafoam glass dates back prior to the 1970s and if it is much thicker, a soft green with a bluish tint then it is much older than the thinner shards of the same color.

Well, this piece is not only thick but leans more towards a blue greenish color and you can also see the ridges in the seaglass in the photo.

I wrapped this simply as I do most of my jewelry because I like to keep the focus on the sea glass.

People don't realize that soon sea glass will be a thing of the past so if you have some really nice jewelry pieces in your collection you have a treasure!

I make a lot of pieces to sell but I also keep a lot of my pieces for myself, my daughters, and my son.

1/4" Thick Soft Blue Sea Glass Pendant

This is a perfect, perfect, soft blue 1/4" thick (that's thick!) sea glass which I chose to wire width wise. I used argentium wire which is tarnish proof to wire it in such a way that the sea gem really protrudes so the focus is where it should be...on the sea glass. Love It!

This thick piece of sea glass dates back before 1920 and who knows how long it's been tumbled in the sea.

Lime Green Sea Glass Wire Wrapped Earrings

Lime green sea glass is supposedly not so much rare as it is uncommon but for me, lime green sea glass is a rare thing to find. So whenever I find any nice piece of lime green sea glass I'm pretty elated!

I was fortunate to find these two pieces which matched pretty well for a set of earrings wire wrapped with argentium silver.

This glass, according to Richard LaMotte, author of "Pure Sea Glass" has its origins dating in the mid to late 1900s. Not so old but still a really kool retro color from the 1980s.

Teal Sea Glass Wire Wrapped Earrings

I'm so glad I bought Richard LaMotte's book "Pure Sea Glass." Before this book I really didn't know much about how glass was made or why it was so rare. Reading this book, rather, devouring this book has really educated me as to how much sea glass is becoming more and more like ultra rare gems!

Take for instance this color, teal. When I first started collecting it never dawned on me that this color was extremely rare to find. I was just on my merry way collecting and getting super excited just to find a piece of sea glass. After a year of collecting and matching up sea glass for earrings or putting aside for a pendant if it's too big I'm amazed as to the treasures I've found throughout the year!

This pair of teal sea glass earrings I found the straight piece first. I was going to save it for a pendant because I didn't think I'd find another one to match but when sorting through my glass I looked at the curved piece and thought to myself hmmmm this may go well with the teal piece I was going to make a pendant from. And amazingly they're about the same size too albeit different in width and shape.

Anyway, here it is with a simple wire wrap using argentium silver, simple to keep the focus on these extremely rare pieces of teal sea glass.

Extremely Rare Teal Large Sea Glass Pendant

I just posted about the extreme rarity of teal sea glass and what makes this piece of teal sea glass that I used for a pendant is it's large size and grade "A" condition. Sea glass comes in so many beautiful shapes each one is unique and stands on its own merits.

This piece measures 1 7/8" x 1 1/4" and contains lots of bubbles or seeds within it indicating old age. In fact, according to Richard LaMotte, author of "Pure Sea Glass" teal glass wasn't produced much after the early 1900s. Couple that with the indication of bubbles or seeds in the glass dating it back to 1905 than you have a piece of extremely rare sea glass that's 100+ years old!

That may not seem like much to people but to me the fact that it's been smoothened by the sea for more than 10 years and comes from a glass that's more than 100 years old AND there's really not much sea glass to be found anymore save for green and brown (popular beer bottle colors) or really thin shards of glass, since this is becoming a near extinct item, then you could say this is a true treasure!

Besides the fact that when worn...it looks just exquisite on the body!

Extremely Rare Teal Sea Glass Wire Wrapped Earrings

I love this beautiful pair of teal sea glass earrings! So feminine! Teal sea glass as stated in an earlier post is an extremely rare find so I'm pretty happy that I have a few pieces I can match up for earrings.

This pair is a triangular shape, one of the reasons I first decided to make jewelry from sea glass is because of its natural triangular shape. I did a simple wire wrap using argentium wire for its tarnish proof qualities.

Hawaii Sunrise and Sunset Chart

I Love sunsets. I was once lucky enough to see the green flash so often talked about. It was instantaneous. This was on Guam. I haven't had a chance to see one here on Maui but I know I will.

So many people come here to Maui and want to see a sunset before they leave. I don't blame them. It completes the experience of being in a place that still manages to be exotic in spite of over development.

Well, when looking for my friend's site for Hawaiian lunar months for my blog on my latest beach sea glass finds I came across this site that actually provides a calendar with sunset and sunrise times for various places in Hawaii. So I thought I'd spread the word here!

Natural Maui Beach Sea Tumbler 11-3-09

This is how the tumbler looked yesterday. Most of the time I don't have time to video the tumblers but I took time out yesterday because it was pretty lousy anyway. When it's real good I don't want to stop collecting glass!

You can see how fast the waves wash in and out. Sometimes, not often enough, the wave will wash out leaving the tumbler exposed just enough so I can collect a bunch of beautiful beach sea glass. When that happens the good chemicals from my brain drop down and I feel wonderful!

On days like this though I have to really focus on the tumbler to spot any glass. Then I have to run for it before the wave washes it back out. Many times I get swept off my feet because the waves washing in are really strong!
